Metals We MARK
Metals like stainless steel, bare aluminum, titanium, carbon steel, and chrome plating can be easily marked using a metal marking compound. Marking compound bonds permanently to and is as durable as the surface. The strength of the substrate is not affected, as no material is removed as with other processes.
MARKING produces a permanent, high-contrast BLACK IMAGE that resists corrosion, abrasions, chipping, fading, cracking and pealing.
Here is our list of markable metals: Aluminum
- Aircraft Aluminum
- all 5000, 6000, and 7000 series
- Chrome Finishes
- Anodized, coated, painted, etc.Steel
- all 300, 400, 500, 600, and 700 grades
- Tool Steel
- Stainless Steel
- Chrome Finishes
- Lead-Coated*Tungsten Carbide
Titanium
Iron Copper Tin Bronze Brass* Pewter Silver** *Testing must be performed on these materials. Brass will most often have a clear coating to protect it from tarnishing, tarnish will not mark.
**Silver from South Africa will mark, most other silvers are very difficult to mark.
PLUS, a wide variety of special Laserable materials made just for tagging and signage.

Surfaces
The flatter the substrate the more predictable the results. However, the laser will continue to mark or etch as the laser moves out of focus. There are many variables so please ask.
Customer Supplied Materials
Most customers are manufacturing or arranging the delivery of materials to our workshop. We can arrange to supply substrates upon request.
Testing Surfaces
We have little difficulty with uncoated metals. Metal surfaces like brass often have a coating applied to avoid corrosion, and sometimes this coating can discolor around the lasered surface. If you are unsure, contact us to arrange a FREE testing.
