marking is a permanent imaging process where a marking solution is fused to metal using a pin point sharp laser beam. The material is
brushed or sprayed on and dries much like acrylic temper paint. The 4000 plus degree laser can image any text or graphic files from industry standard computer programs like The Adobe Suite, AutoCAD Programs, and Corel Draw Family of softwares. A soft brush and water removes the unbonded marking material leaving a dark, permanent and uniform branding that is as strong as the substrate.

In the past, customers would hire me to design graphics with page layouts and have them produced into printed papers or signs. Printing on anything else usually meant SILK SCREEN printing, tee shirt printing for example. If imaging need to be done on a product, silk screen printing was, at that time, the best answer. Stickers often became the solution, 500 needed to be ordered. Each production method has its drawbacks.
Variables such as: water resistance, temperature exposure, sunlight fade resistance, weather/temp exposure, sun exposure, physical durability, etc., would cut the options and force the decision. Quantity was the killer, price per unit was usually outrageous until you hit the quantity of 500 or more.

CONCLUSION
Silk screening should be left to fabrics like tee shirts. It's only advantage may be choice of ink color. It is really better for large quantities.
Laser marking a control panel will most likely cost less, can be made faster because there are less steps, and absolutely is more durable. As far as flexibility is concerned, digital files sent to the laser is like printing with a desk top printer. Silk screen printing is very messy and you are charged setup costs each time you produce one.
If you are currently using ink, silk screening, or decals on your products, you don't settle any longer. Advancements in lasers and marking materials make now the perfect time for an upgrade.
